Project 2: Piano Keys

This is an all-immersive piano tiles game that pushes your rhythm and reflexes to the next level. Unlike traditional piano tiles on mobile apps, this version offers a more engaging, immersive experience. Players must hit the key that glows purple to play the note. If the wrong key is pressed, it will turn red and a game over screen will appear. The goal is to hit as many correct keys as possible to advance to the next level.

Game Development Process:

While building the environment went smoothly, we encountered several challenges when adapting the game for VR. These included issues such as the environment not loading correctly, audio not playing in VR, and the virtual “arms” being too short or unresponsive. Through this process, we not only learned how to build a game and convert it into VR, but also how to structure the game from the beginning—starting with the scene setup—to make it easier to optimize for VR later on.

Revisions and Feedback from Playtesting:

From the feedback we received, we realized that we should add more instructions at the beginning of the game. Some players mentioned that the game started too quickly, and they were confused when the keys began changing colors without clear guidance on what to do.
